 INFO

The Cultivating Women Leaders Speakers Forum aims to celebrate the contributions of a diverse selection of women as well as promote the call to action to support women’s rights and advance gender equality.

The event brings together students, corporate sponsors, and powerful speakers for a day of learning and inspiration. Our Forum will expose young women to a wide range of business careers, female role models, and business leaders who are passionate about their industries and diversity and inclusion. The Forum will also shine light on the growing movement and importance for women to participate equally in society. The expectation is not that each young woman will leave the event knowing exactly what they want to do after high school and/or university, but that they leave with a better perspective on the numerous opportunities available to them.

Due to the overwhelmingly positive response in our inaugural year, we will be hosting our 3rd annual Cultivating Women Leaders Speakers Forum on March 5th, 2020. We look forward to welcoming you and celebrating the continued success of women in leadership.

 ABOUT OUR LEADERSHIP TEAM

Cultivating Women Leaders was founded in 2018 by Katie McAvoy and Lexi Marchetti who are now first year Commerce Students attending Queen’s University. Both have always shared the same passion for leadership and community engagement and co-chaired the 1st and 2nd conference at Cawthra Park Secondary.

Katie McAvoy has remained involved, and has helped to guide a new team of teen leaders who have worked hard to develop and host the 3rd Annual Cultivating Women Leaders Conference in 2020.

The 2020 Co-Chairs consist of Julia Turliuk, Kaileigh Grnak, Jessica Tourgis, Anneke Hunt, Katie Piszel, Lucy Boates, and Kathleena Henricus. This dynamic team began collaborating on how they could continue to bring Cultivating Women Leaders to life as a means to celebrate the contributions of women as well as further the call to action to support women’s rights and advance gender equality through diversity and inclusion.

The 3rd Annual Cultivating Women Leaders Conference will be in held on March 5th, 2020 at Cawthra Park Secondary School in Mississauga.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Cultivating Women Leaders 3rd Annual Speakers Forum at

Cawthra Park Secondary in celebration of International Women’s Day

Mississauga, March 6, 2020 – On March 5’20, 250 teen leaders will gather at Cawthra Park Secondary School in celebration of International Women’s Day this year.  The message of the 3rd Annual Cultivating Women Leaders Forum is simple; it is important to Cultivate more Women Leaders. The Cultivating Women Leaders Speakers Forum was founded by Katie McAvoy and Lexi Marchetti in 2018. Katie and Lexi are now first year Commerce students at Queen’s University in Kingston, and Katie McAvoy has remained involved and guided a new up and coming team of teen leaders to host the 3rd Annual Conference.  The 2020 Co-Chairs consist of Julia Turliuk, Kaileigh Grnak, Jessica Tourgis, Anneke Hunt, Katie Piszel, Lucy Boates, and Kathleena Henricus.  This team of teen leaders have been successful in gaining the support of their school Principal and teachers, as well as corporate partners such as WorldSource Securities, Wainbee Limited, Equitable Life of Canada, Studio PAVAS, Omega Securities Inc., SunLife Financial, and Cotton Candy Inc. Students in Grade 9 through 12 are encouraged to attend.

Cultivating Women Leaders aims to celebrate the contributions of a diverse selection of women as well as support the call to action to support women’s rights and advance gender equality through diversity and inclusion. The Forum will expose young women to a wide range of business careers, female role models, and business leaders who are passionate about their industries.

The Speakers Forum will also shine a light on the importance and growing movement for women to participate equally in society and above all, to believe in themselves.

This year’s speakers include Jennifer Turliuk – CEO of Makerkids and Noeline Simon, and Tax VP of Canadian Life and Health Insurance Association.  “We are excited that the Speakers Forum that we founded in 2018 and hosted for two years is being carried on by this team of capable leaders” said Katie McAvoy.  “By showcasing some terrific female role models, my hope is that we are successful in inspiring young women to pursue a career in business.”

“Our hope is that young girls will walk away from this Forum with increased confidence, and that they will set high goals for themselves knowing that these role models have helped to blaze a trail for them”, Julia Turliuk added.

The team is looking forward to the third annual Speakers Forum, and are excited to welcome attendees there.
